5-Minute Tropical Smoothie Bowl

5-Minute Tropical Smoothie Bowl

Some mornings you want breakfast to feel like a small holiday. This bowl does exactly that: it is thick enough to eat with a spoon, sweet without added sugar, and it uses three of the fruits that arrive in every Tropical Box.

What you need

  • 1 ripe Ataulfo mango, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple chunks
  • 1 frozen banana (freeze it the night before)
  • 2 passion fruits, pulp only
  • 120 ml coconut milk
  • Toppings: granola, coconut flakes, lime zest

How to make it

  1. Put a bowl in the freezer while you prep the fruit — a cold bowl keeps the texture thick.
  2. Blend mango, pineapple, banana and coconut milk until smooth. If the blender struggles, add one more splash of milk, never more.
  3. Pour into the cold bowl and swirl the passion fruit pulp on top.
  4. Finish with granola, coconut flakes and lime zest. Eat right away.

Make it your own

Swap the pineapple for papaya for a softer, creamier bowl, or add a handful of spinach — you will not taste it and the colour turns a beautiful jade green. A spoon of Greek yoghurt makes it more filling.

The secret to a thick smoothie bowl is frozen fruit and as little liquid as possible. Patience beats extra milk.
